Free Crochet Pattern: de Blob x 2 and a paintbot!

de what??????

It's a character from the wii game of the same name. Beloved by Chicken, hence the request for a crocheted one!

He's a jumping, rolling, painting fella who has to save the whole of his world from the invading greyness to the accompaniment of increasingly groovy music!

He changes colour by splatting onto paintbots and turns more ball-like as he rolls and jumps along.

So we have...

a blue de Blob

and a red paintbot to jump on in order to become..

a purple rolling de Blob!

You will need:

blue, purple, red, grey, tan and white yarn.
3.75mm hook
3mm hook
yarn needle                                                                   (numbers in bold are for steps
stuffing                                                                               rather than round/row numbers)

Ready? let's go!

Blue de Blob

Body : 1: sc 6 into a magic ring
            2: 2 sc in each sc (12)
3: (2 sc in next, sc in next) repeat around (18)
4: (2 sc in next, sc in each of next 2) repeat around (24)
5: (2 sc in next, sc in each of next 3) repeat around (30)
6: sc in each sc (30) for 6 rounds (180 in total)
7: chain 10, sc in each of next 20
8: sc in each sc and chain (30)
9: sc in each sc (30) for 4 rounds (120 in total)
10: (sc in each of next 3, sc 2 together) repeat around (24)
11: (sc in each of next 2, sc 2 together) repeat around (18)
12: (2 sc in next, sc in each of next 2) repeat around (24)
13: (2 sc in next, sc in each of next 3) repeat around (30)
14: (2 sc in next, sc in each of next 4) repeat around (36)
15: (2 sc in next, sc in each of next 5) repeat around (42)
             fasten off.

Bottom of body : 1: sc 6 into a magic ring
                            2:  2 sc in each sc (12)
3: (2 sc in next, sc in next) repeat around (18)
fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Ears x 2 : 1: sc 4 into a magic ring
                2: (2 sc in next, sc in next) x 2 (6)
                3: (sc in next, sc 2 together) x 2 (4)
4: sc in each sc (4) for 2 rounds (8 in total)

Arms x 2 : 1: sc 6 into a magic ring
2: sc in each sc (6)
                  3: (2 sc in next , sc in next) x 3 (9)
4: sc in each sc (9) for 2 rounds (18 in total)
5: sc 2 together, sc in each of next 7  (8)
6: sc in each sc (8)
                  7: (sc 2 together, sc in each of next 2) x 2 (6)
8: sc in each sc (6)
9: (chain 4, slip stitch into opposite side of circle) x 4. This makes the fingers and is hopefully explained a little further by my handy diagram!?

                   fasten off.

White

Eyes : (make one with 3mm and one with 3.75mm hook)
into a magic ring (sc x 2, dc, sc x 2, dc).
slip stitch into first stitch to join.

Tan

Mouth : 1: sc 7 into a magic ring
              2: 2 sc in each sc (14)
3: (2 sc in next, sc in next) repeat around (21)
fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Sew the mouth into the gap left midway up the body, it is (almost) a stitch for stitch fit.
Push the mouth in if it's sticking out!
Stuff the body then sew the bottom on (at the 18 sc row, so you are left with a kind of flat skirt sticking out at the base).
Sew on the eyes, ears and arms using the photo as a guide.

Ta da! (let me know if it's not)

Purple rolling de Blob

This one is much easier!

1: sc 6 into a magic ring
2: 2 sc in each sc (12)
3: (2 sc in next, sc in next) repeat around (18)
4: (2 sc in next, sc in each of next 2) repeat around (24)
5: (2 sc in next, sc in each of next 3) repeat around (30)
6: (2 sc in next, sc in each of next 4) repeat around (36)
7: (2 sc in next, sc in each of next 5) repeat around (42)
8: sc in each sc (42) for 6 rounds (294 in total)
9: (sc 2 together, sc in each of next 5) repeat around (36)
10: (sc 2 together, sc in each of next 4) repeat around (30)
11: (sc 2 together, sc in each of next 3) repeat around (24)
Start stuffing and continue as the hole gets smaller!
12: (sc 2 together, sc in each of next 2) repeat around (18)
13: (sc 2 together, sc in next ) repeat around (12)
14: (sc 2 together) repeat around (6)
fasten off, closing hole as you do.

Eyes and ears as above.
Again, check the photo for positioning.

Paintbot

Here's the handy picture Chicken drew for me to refer to when he requested his paintbot!

With this clearly in mind...

Red

Body(?) : 1: sc 6 into a magic ring
                2: 2 sc in each sc (12)
3: in back loops only, sc in each sc (12)
4: sc in each sc (12) for 5 rounds (60 in total)

Grey

Base & legs : 1: sc 6 into a magic ring
                      2: 2 sc in each sc (12)
                      3: (2 sc in next, sc in each of next 3) x 3 (15)
4: in back loops only, sc in each sc (15)
5: [(chain 5, sc in 2nd ch and each of next 3 ch, slip stitch in chain base) slip stitch in each of next 4 sc]  x 4
                      fasten off.

Sew body to base. Stuff when there's a small hole remaining and then close up.

Now you're ready to play!

The picture everyone's standing on is one Chicken made by wax crayon rubbing various surfaces around the house and then adding his de Blob drawings onto.

Remember the rules!
Play nicely with my stuff, so I don't have to send the boys round!

Enjoy!

(enough exclamation marks???)

Next pattern coming soon.
